TARI Dakawa Builds Research Capacity to Expectant Agricultural Professionals from the National Sugar Institute

The Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute, through its Dakawa Centre has received ten students (6 M, 4 F) from the National Sugar Institute located in Kilombero, Morogoro. The students are at the centre for the field practical training to learn practical work for a period of one month. Their training started on 3/7/2023 and will continue until 28/7/2023.
More often, the centre receives students from partner high learning institutes and colleges to concretize their theoretical learning more particularly in the practicality. So, these ones are subject to work environments to articulate, synthesize and apply in real job performance what they learnt from college. They are also exposed to learning of new skills, change their attitudes towards being expectant skilled and professionals in the agricultural sector, be it research or extension, public or private.
In the picture below, the students take the yield data of various trials - under rice agronomy and breeding sections - conducted in 2023 growing season. Besides, they are oriented on the experimentation and setting field experiments before they participate in data entry, analyses, interpretation and report writing.
