Banana Agronomy Project is the Project which has been implemented in Tanzania and Uganda since 2017. The Project came after realizing that Productivity is less than 10t/ha/year while the Potential is 60t/ha/year. The Objectives of the Project are i) to reduce the banana yield gap and ii) to reduce the extension service gap. In Tanzania, the Project has been implemented in Bukoba rural district in Kagera region and in Rombo district in Kilimanjaro region. The promoted technologies are expected to be scaled to other parts of Tanzania that are also engaging in banana production. The pilot area for implementation of the project has been Izimbya ward in Bukoba Rural district. However, the scaling of the technologies is being done in nearby wards including Ruhunga, Kyaitoke, Rubale, Kaibanja, Mgajwale, and Kikomero wards. The target of the project is to reach and influence 5,000 farmers in Kagera region.
