a) Potato
The institute is mandated to conduct research on potato in Southern Highland of Tanzania with altitude of 1500 - 2000 a.m.s.l, currently the institute has four potato varieties innovated with collaboration with TARI Uyole and other TARI Research Centers such released varieties are SHEREHEKEA, TIGONI, CIP and MERU
