Academic qualifications, work and experiences
Dr. Emmanuel Mlyashimbi, is an entomologist
working in crop protection at Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute –TARI
Kibaha Centre. He attained a PhD and Master degrees in Crop Science, and Bachelor
degree in Agriculture General from Sokoine University of
Agriculture in Morogoro, Tanzania.
Working
knowledge is in the area of insect/small mammal pests, assessment and
identification of key pests affecting different staple and non-staple high
value crop plants, designing and implementation of integrated pest management
packages, use of crop phenology in designing the appropriate application of
pest management technologies. His area of research interests are agricultural crop
pests, their life, reproduction, seasonal population dynamics (changes) and
impacts in crop production.
At TARI Kibaha, Dr. Mlyashimbialso is
the Centre Coordinator of Research and Innovation and among of his duties are
to; initiate and coordinate all research projects and programmes,
conducting basic, applied and strategic agricultural research program in
accordance with the national agricultural policy and research priorities,
providing and undertaking and promoting consultancy services in agricultural
research and contributing in resource mobilization of agricultural research in
collaboration with other stakeholders.
