Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute

Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute in collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agriculture Sciences conducted the workshop tropical crop production on June 27, 2024, at TARI Kibaha. The workshop aimed to exchange experience on the tropical crops on productivity, pest and disease management, and value additional on cassava, coffee, and sisal.

Deputy Permanent Secretary, MoA, Dr. Hussein Mohamed Omar was invited to witness an important event signed the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI) and the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agriculture Sciences (CATAS) on cooperation in tropical agricultural science and technology. The MOU was signed between the Director General of Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI) Dr. Thomas Bwana and the Director General Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Hainan Province – He Qiongmei.

The memorandum of understanding signed will sum up cooperation on human capacity development and strengthening of infrastructure for agricultural research including a joint laboratory for sisal research. The construction of a joint laboratory for sisal research will inevitably revolutionize sisal research in the country and respond to the Ministry’s directive to prioritize modern techniques in seed and seedling production.
