TARI Gets New Leadership

The newly appointed Director General of Tanzania Agriculture Research Institute (TARI) Dr. Thomas Bwana has officially embarked on his responsibilities following handover ceremony held on February 20, 2024 at TARI headquqters located at Makutupora in Dodoma. Dr. Bwana takes over as new TARI boss, the position which was previously held by Dr. Geoffrey Mkamilo.
Dr. Bwana was appointed by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan on February 03, 2024 after Dr. Mkamilo's tenure came to an end.
Speaking during the event, the Director General, Dr. Bwana, expressed his commitment to building upon the accomplishments of his predecessor and urging the TARI staff to collaborate effectively to ensure that the institute's research outputs benefit both farmers and society at large.
The event was also witnessed by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Gerald Mweli who among others promised the government's commitment to supporting the Tanzania Agriculture Research Institute (TARI) in fulfilling its responsibilities of promoting productive agriculture among farmers.
The Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI) was established under Act No.10 of 2016 with national mandate to conduct, coordinate, regulate and promote agricultural research in Tanzania manland. Dr. Geoffrey Mkamilo was the first Director General who resumed office in 2018.
